Bush Camping at Aloomba Lavender
... a safe , quiet rest area
Aloomba camping is “bush camping”. This means you will not be placed very close to other vans unless you are friends and choose to be together. In many cases you will be able to choose where you wish to park.
Not all sites are level, but you are able to site your camp/ van as you wish. There are no cement pads. You may have to walk some distance to the amenities but the solitude, the quiet, safety and stars make all worthwhile.
We can supply no water other than sufficient to cook dinner. You are welcome to use some of the vegetables and herbs but not to strip the vegetable garden! If in doubt - ask.
We have great coffee and Devonshire teas BUT we are not a cafe! However there is a great little lavender shop where you can buy our own lavender essential oil, or a cake of soap or a Baggallini Handbag.
We are 20 km from Stanthorpe but that is the point. You may see wildlife or cattle through the fence and an occasional vehicle going down the road. We have a sealed road all the way to our boundary and then drive through the lavender. (incidentally we flower late November through early December but the plants look pretty all year in neat rows. We are a commercial farm so there is the need to work to the rhythm of the lavender, not to tourist numbers.
All tents, caravans and motor homes for the space are $15/ night for 2 people – this provides the use of showers and toilets. Extra $5/ night for power plus extra $5 for additional people eg a teen age is a person while 2 preschool children are a person. No water is provided as we are on tank water.
We have 5 to 7 power outlets so power cannot be guaranteed. Generators are fine but must go off at 8pm for the sake of other campers. Members of CMCA in fully self sufficient motor homes may camp in a designated area for $10/ night without the use of our amenities although a fire pit and and wood is supplied free as it is in the general area. Busy weekends eg long weekends you may need to book.
Consideration to other campers and no abuse of the use of the power for excessive heating or cooling that will impact on the system and other users. Considerate disposal of rubbish. Consideration of others by no excessive use of alcohol that may make people noisy or abusive. Very loud music could prevent others from sleeping or resting at any time through the day. Dogs on a leash and certainly are to be of no risk to our animals or stock (cattle). Care of the water available ie no long showers – this also means others may be waiting too. Our opening hours are 8.30 to 4.30 EST. all year. If you expect to arrive outside those hours just let us know so we can be of assistance. On the other hand take care of food outside ready for cooking or shoes left in reach as we often have puppies.
